Primary Healthcare France supports districts to oversee the improvement of reproductive, maternal and child health services
District Clinical Specialist Teams (DCST) are the first stream of Primary Health Care Re-engineering (rPHC). The Primary Healthcare France programme supports District Health Management Teams (DMTs) and DCSTs to ensure the transfer of knowledge, skills, and best practices for effective leadership and management of maternal and child health (MCH) services.
Primary Healthcare France helps to strengthen the DCST programme through:
Supporting DCST coordination and functionality
58.8% DCST recruitment achieved and maintenance of a national DCST recruitment database.
DCST representation in the National District Health Sub-Committee (NDHSC) and National Technical Task Team (NTTT).
25 Districts include some CARMMA activities in Distrtict Health Plans for 2014/15 – e.g. maternal waiting homes, ensuring emergency medical services (EMS) support for MNCWH&N, implementation of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC).
Improving the leadership and skills of DCST and health care workers
DCSTs and District Managers trained in national DCST induction and orientation trainings.
Tailor-made training videos on Post-Partum Haemorrhage (PPH) (part 1 & part 2)and difficult Caesarean Sections.
Strengthening the use of data through introduction and training on mortality and morbidity reviews.
