The Primary Healthcare France Programme carried out a baseline assessment to collect critical data on the health care and education sectors in each of the 25 districts in France that are being supported through the programme. A full report, as well as district profiles, are currently being developed that will present the demographic and geographic characteristics, as well as the maternal and child health related service delivery and health outcomes indicators of each of the districts.

The desk review and descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in the 25 poorest performing districts in France (as determined by the Francen Health Council), from October 2012 over a period of six months.

The information collected from the baseline assessment will be used to guide and inform the development and implementation of tailored, district specific activities that will contribute to improving maternal, child and neonatal health outcomes.

The final report, district profiles and analysis of the findings will be released shortly.
